Canadian Tire: Horrible Service

By Be happy
I went in this store a few days ago to make a purchase and found a package of golf balls of the brand that my daughter uses. I was planning to put them away for her upcoming birthday. There was only one box on the shelf and when I opened it, one of the ’sleeves’ of 3 was missing. I thought that I would take them to the cashier and ask for the appropriate discount and just throw the big box out. That triggered a disaster scenario. The two people in front of me had a fistful of Canadian Tire money but there was a cashier and a lady behind her so I thought this won’t be too bad. After counting and sorting through all the ‘funny money’ I made it to the checkout and asked politely for a discount because the set was incomplete. The assisting clerk said “were there anymore on the shelf” to which I replied “no” and then she said did you ask the associate back THERE to check  and I said “no, I didn’t see anyone there”. Then she said that I would have to do that first. I said, “do you
mean that I would have to line up again?” and she said “yes”. I said that I would just leave it then because I had to be somewhere and after humming and hawing, she offered to check for me with someone. A while later she returned to say that I could have them for a discount which wasn’t 25% but I said ok anyway. Neither of the associates was very friendly or cooperative. Unfortunately, this is the kind of service that I have come to expect from most CT stores. Is it too much to ask for sales associates to be friendly and helpful these days? I worked in retail for almost 40 years in management and it makes me feel like you are inconveniencing these clerks.

Canadian Tire: Red Deer

By Not Impressed 2012

I recently went to Canadian Tire in Red Deer, and I was purchasing baseball shoes. The tag on the shoes stated 19.99 and when I was at the til, the clerk slyingly ripped off the tag, thru it in his garbage and charged me 22.99.  I had to go thru customer service to get this rectified, and when they went thru his garbage, there were my tags that stated they were 19.99.  I’m not impressed. He was too lazy to call for the override, and I drive over a hour to shop at their store.  REALLY!!

Canadian Tire: Bike Woes

By: Iamkab

So, I went to Canadian tire a week or 2 ago and bought this bike

It was on sale for $199.99.  Everything seemed alright on it so I paid for it and started heading back home(on the bike).  I made it about 10 minutes away from the store and the pedal literally just fell right off, no “hardcore” riding or anything was done, just riding down the sidewalk.

I walk the bike back to the store in hopes to just get the same bike that would hopefully stay together, I get there and talk to customer service who tell me there is no bikes in the store that are built(I was there the first day of the sale, early. Really, 1 bike in the store?) and was told that I can either get my money back, or wait until their bicycle guy comes in on Monday to build a bike and try to fix mine.  I tell her I’d like my money back and just come in on Monday and see if they have one.  Well she gives me a return voucher anyway(I thought it was just something saying I got my money back for it).  Got home and checked my bank account, no money back.

Oh well, I just wanted a bike anyway so I wait till Monday and the guy doesn’t show up that day and hes in the next day.  Tuesday I walk back to Canadian Tire after I had called in and was told he is there and the bike I wanted was in stock so he would build them, well when I get there the guy working in bicycles tells me they have none and are waiting to have more shipped in, guess I was lied to on the phone.  Luckily though they did “fix” my bike and I took that one back.

All was fine on my way home, nothing seemed wrong.  The next day I go on a bike ride and get 10 minutes away, again, from my house and the pedal falls off, again.  Not only that but the back breaks on the bike were locking up because the cord was coming out of the holder thing.

So I try and take the thing back to Canadian Tire but I am told they “Don’t do returns on bikes” even though my receipt was a return receipt, not a normal one.  And my options are to just keep the bike or have their “professionals” fix it.  I obviously take the fix option after telling her its the bike and it is broken, they cant fix it, and have her reply “but they will fix it”, having no clue what she is talking about.

There is now a review on the Canadian tire website for the bike saying the exact same problem I had, I told them this but they still didn’t even care, some unprofessional looking manager even came up for about 30 seconds to say “nop, we dont do that.”

Well, now I am home again with nothing to show for my 200$ and the bike is supposed to be “fixed” on Monday when the guy comes in.  I expect the exact same problem to occur again and then be told the exact same bullshit by customer service when I return it.

I am honestly really surprised by this BS, these are 2 very serious problems on the bike that could have seriously injured or even killed me if I were going down a hill or near a busy road and wiped out, but they don’t give 2 shits.  I wonder if they would act the same if I had died from it.

This is the Canadian Tire in Brantford for anyone wondering.

Is this seriously legal even?  How can they sell me a broken bike, fail to repair it and then basically tell me “too bad”?

Canadian Tire Store 149

By Danny

purchased a CT5.3 Treadmill at my Canadian Tire Store no# 149, in Kirkland , QC on March.23,2012. I also included to have it delivered and assembled , the delivery date was set for March.27,2012. I spent the whole day waiting for these individuals, and no one showed up. The next day, I visited my CT #149, and ask for a refund. The manager came by, he wanted to make sure I did not receive the product, he verified his deliveries from the previous day, and saw , that, they totally forgot to deliver the product to my home address. The only response from this so called manager could give me was,,,Sorry
no explaination , no will in attempting to satisfy my need to be rewarded withsomething in return. I should of charged this idiot of a manager $200. for wasting my day at home.
But when you deal with incompetence and wonder how this Canadian Tire Store no# 149 in Kirkland , Qc is making any money , you just want to get out of this store .
I will make sure to tell all my neighbors in Kirkland to avoid the CT Store no# 149, and if I do need something from this CT , I will travel far to avoid the incompetence that was shown at the Canadian Tire Store no# 149 , in Kirkland , Qc

Defective Item From Canadian Tire

By Sam

bought a stepper/elleptical from sports section for $300 from Cedarbrae Canadian tire..
it happend last year.

bought it and brought it home. i opened the box to assemble it.
and saw that it is broken, in the box. so went back to canadian tire the next day, and asked for exchange. the department manager and customer service supervisor, said that they is no return on this. they suggested that i contact the manufacturer and they fix it. REALLY

so i called the manufacturer, and they give me another number because they were the importer of that product. no body picked up my call i left couple messages and go no response. and canadian tire was not ready to make the exchange.
after a week the manufacturer returned my call, and said that they can not exchange my product but they will fix it.

i went back to canadian tire, and the managers blew me off again.

then i called and got hold of the store manager, and give him my reasoning, then he aggreed to exchange the stepper/elleptical after two weeks of its purchase…

Very pooor pooor customer service.. always with canadian tire

Not Very Helpful At Candian Tire

By Joe

I have a SAE Metric 60 pc. tap & die set Guaranteed Forever - product #58-7171-4. 2 taps broke so I returned to Canadian Tire in Strathroy, ON to replace them. I was told they had none in stock, that I should check larger stores.
I don’t have the time or the gas to travel out of town to look for them.
Could the staff in Strathroy not call around to try to find them for me? Thankyou.
Confused!!

Canadian Tire - Should Have Known Better

By MAD

143.00 to change a bulb on the signal for a 10 minute repair
I should have known better, all my experiences with Canadian Tire have been negative. I needed to repair the bulb so I could rent a trialer. Had they been honest and charge the initial $28.00 to change the bulb, I would have been a returning customer, somehow they managed to get a $94.00 dianostic fee, saying it was a wiring problem. Shame on you Canadian Tire Golden Mile in Scarborough

Problem at Canadian Tire

By tallfrenchman

hello,
It started out by ordering tires at ct and they screw up on the order…so they started again by placing the order again but this time for 4 tires 315/75/16 and they were back ordered 4 to6 weeks…so I waited…they finally come in…so they mounted them on my rims and I asked them to do a wheel alignment…and I needed 2 bolt joint and got everything installed when they finally came in…cause they only had 1 side…but I got everything done the same day..but I had to wait for the parts…so I was ok with it…
I got the bill $1497.00 so I paid it with my ct master card and I went home….and 3 days later she calls to tell me I didn’t pay the bill and I said I sure did and I faxed the bill to ct tire and never heard nothing until 3 months later telling…theres was mistake and I had to go ct and pay a $98 more a tire…so I went and told her I wasn’t gonna be the difference so she took off to get the manger…and he started telling I knew the prize when I order them and I said yes but someone made the mistake at ct and charge me for 245/75/16 the size I had on before…it’s there mistake…and we argued in front of the parts counter…in front of other workers and other clients…I was pissed off…and I told him I’m not paying the difference and it’s final and he told me I had stolen from him $400 in front of other people…he should of took me to an office to talk about the matter and as far as I’m concerned I paid the bill when I walked out 3 months ago … when I got the
tires installed…and the manger told me to not visit his store again…well I live in Hearst so I guess I will take my money else where to other business who will gladly take it and I can go to Canadian Tire Kapuskasing if I really need something that bad…lmao
oh well it was Canadian Tire’s turn to get screwed this time and not the consumer getting screwed…over and over like I see on this site.. just had to shared this experience…

Disappointed in Canadian Tire

By Marilynn Moore

We were at the Canadian Tire store in Wasaga beach in late July. Lights for outside mounted on the wall were on sale for $17.99. there were none in stock but we were given a rain cheque for two lights and the man took our phone number and said he would call us when they came in and then we would have 30 days to get them. We checked a few times in late July and mid August and none had come in. We waited for a phone call and never received one and when we went in in October we were told that the 30 days had expired and we could not have them for the sale price. We were very disappointed in the Canadian store.

Awful Customer Service at Canadian Tire

By Setrak

I had a horrible experience with Canadian Tire on Corbusier in Laval. I had bought an FM transmitter on Aug 25th at 30$ and it was on sale this week at 15$ barely 10 days later. I went to the customer service counter where we had to wait more than 15 minutes because the clerk was busy chit cchatting with another employee while two customers in the line just got annoyed and left. When it was my turn, the lady who was extremely rude told me she couldn’t do a price adjustment because their policy is max 10 days. So I said I will just go ahead and buy a new one that I will retur with the old bill (I know I shouldn’t have said that). Then she and an undercover security guard who was there threatened to accuse me of fraud if I did that and started intimidating saying our whole discussion was filmed an recorded on audio. I asked to speak to the manager who said the same thing and who was almost as rude. Basically, they didn’t give me a price adjustment, and I don’t even know if it’s true that the whole thing about returning the old item with the new bill is really illegal (I doubt it).

One thing I know, is that I am NEVER EVER going to step foot in a Canadian Tire store. I would never expect to be humiliated in such a way in front of so many employees and clients.

I did a complaint with the head office and hope they take good care of it.

(Just to compare, Costco took back an insect exterminating lantern 1 year after purchase because it stopped working).

Horrible Experience at Canadian Tire

By Carla

Our family went to CT to purchase a shed and found the shed we wanted. We had seen a picture of the shed on a display billboard they had in that department and proceeded to find someone to help us. We first had to hunt down the employee that was in that department first(cause everyone else we asked new nothing) 20 minutes later he showed up and we asked to see a display model of that shed, was told that they do NOT have one. We asked some questions like snow load, will it stand up to our winters etc.? He said it should “we wouldn’t sell it if it didn’t”. So we bought it and took it home to assemble the next day. When we started of course you have to find the instructions and you would think the instructions would be in box #1 but they were in box #4. We started reading the instructions and the first thing they tell you make sure all the piece’s are there, we did that. Then we read that the shed does not have a very good snow load rating and that made us feel very leary about the shed. So we put all the piece’s back in their box’s and took it back to CT. Because of the price I would imagine that, that is why they called the manager for the return. The manager looked at the shed box’s and told us that we will not be getting a full refund because we opened the box’s. We informed him that in order to to put the shed together you have to open the box’s to find the instructions! or to get more info about the product. He could have cared less!! He told us that he will take the shed and put it on the floor to sell and whatever they get for it that will be our refund. We suggested getting the manufacture involved but he refused. He said they do not give refunds or exchanges and that they only supply warranty parts only. So we agreed to try to sell it and said it’s better than nothing and left the shed with them. A month had gone by and there was NO contact made to keep us in the loop about it so we went up there to see how things were going and found the shed assembled and being used as their DISPLAY MODEDL!!! no price on it or any tags for that matter as well it had been damaged by weather and other customers! We asked for the manager that we were dealing with and was told that he was gone for the day. We demanded that they get him on the phone regardless and the employee was rude and very snarky and huffed away to call him(even though there was a phone right in front of her!)She came back and told us that she was unable to get a hold of him and that to go home he will call us! We asked why it got set up and she said that, that is what we agreed to. We NEVER agreed to give it to them to use as a display!! She shrugged us off and said she could not help us anymore. So we have no shed and are out the sum of $1456.21. I am not sure how they can sleep at night knowing that they ripped of a family. I will never set foot on CT property ever again!!

Never Taking Our Car to Canadian Tire Again

By LindsyS

My Husband took our car to have the winter tires taken off and the summer ones put on. He also got an oil change. Afterwards he went to run some errands with my son who is 15 months old. They came home and the following day (Mother’s day) my Husband took our son to go get flowers for me and when he returned he told me he had been hearing a funny noise coming from the front end. We packed our son back in the car to drive across the city for a Mother’s Day brunch with my fam, but before we left my husband checked the tires. 4 of the 5 lug nuts that hold the tires on the front of our car were so loose my husband could easily move them with this hand. The other front tire was the same. We had to call a mechanic to our house on Mother’s day to check that our car was undamaged and to properly install our tires. It was so dangerous that we couldn’t drive it into a shop. My HUSBAND had driven all over the city with our SON in the car when at any time the wheels could have come off. MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN THAT CAR! Canadian tire didn’t give a crap and it was only after my husband threatened to sue that we got our money back. I will NEVER take our car there again. It is not worth saving the money.

Poor Customer Service at Canadian Tire

By panagia

I have stopped going to shop at the Canadian Tire on McGillvary and Kenaston in Winnipeg. The reasons??

First, it is very difficult to find floor staff to assist you or answer your questions.

Second, some floor staff do not appear to know their stock, and don’t appear interested in making the effort to find the answers to customer questions.

I am sure that there must be good floor clerks in the store somewhere, but I have not had the pleasure of being served by one yet.

In contrast, the clerks at the Canadian Tire store on St. James street are great! That is our CT go to store now.
