Great Service at Tommy Hilfiger Ottawa Train Yards‏

By Jared

My family has been purchasing Hilfiger clothing for years, outfitting everyone; parents, siblings and children. We have shopped many of their outlet stores and have nothing but rave reviews on service received at the Train Yards location. The staff is amazing, they were so busy over the holiday period, they had smiles on their faces and were amazingly efficient. They made our shopping experience as memorable as ever. Thank-you Tommy Hilfiger Train Yards for displaying what customer service is all about. You will continue to see us and our many friends and family members.

Great Service at Swiss Chalet Kitchener

By harrisonhouse

My husband and I love to eat out. We love the idea of spending our hard earned money on a good meal. This day was a special day and I must say I had a wonderful experience. The server Zena, was wonderful. She was super polite and everything you want a server to be. The food we ordered was delicious and the restauant was quite. The owner of the place hand delivered our food.

With the lack of customer service these days I wanted to share a good note.

Love my Amazon.ca

By Sally

This was my 20th order with Amazon.ca and each order I have always been happy with the timely manner I have received my items. Even more impressive was that they shipped my order on Thursday and I received it on Friday even though it wasn’t scheduled to be here until the 4th of January. (Kudos to Canada Post)

Not only has their shipping services always been great but their prices are generally very competitive and in stock.

If you haven’t shopped at Amazon.ca before I highly recommend them!

Great Experience with Futureshop.ca

By Ashley

My hubby and I decided to order a Keurig Coffee Brewer from futureshop.ca on Christmas Day. We were very happy to see that they were offering free shipping on orders over $20+. We placed our order, and we were sent a confirmation email. I was expecting to wait several business days since Canada Post was closed Monday, Dec 27th and Tuesday, Dec 28th because of the holidays. I was shocked to get home and find a delivery notice in our mailbox on Wednesday (Dec 29th) for our shipment from future shop! I’m very happy with the service and price we paid, and will definitely order again from futureshop.ca website.

Good Experience at Canadian Tire

By glowworm2k

I went to the Canadian Tire on Coventry Road in Ottawa for the Boxing Day sale on the 26th. Luckily for me, since the sale had started on the 24th, the store wasn’t too hectic.

I wanted to buy the Vulcan 13′ ladder that was on sale for $99.99 in the flyer. I walked around the store for a while and could only find ladders on sale for $89.99, $129.99 and $219.99. I checked the CTC product number in the flyer with the merchandise and found that the $89.99 ladder was the one I had wanted.

I took the ladder, plus my other purchases (mainly cans of the half-price Comet cleanser) to the cash, and the ladder rang up at $99.99. I told the cashier that there was a sign on the shelf saying that it was only $89.99. She called for a price check immediately, with no argument, before checking what the flyer said ($99.99 of course). When she saw the item in the flyer, she said that the cash was correct, but I asked her to wait for the price check, which she was quite willing to do. The hardware manager came to the cash with the discount sign and told the cashier to give the product to me at the cheaper price. He was very polite and friendly. The cashier gave me the item at the lower price right away.

I have to say, I was quite pleasantly surprised, especially as this all took less than 10 minutes and it was Boxing Day so I had expected to be waiting for a while and, from the reviews here, was expecting some kind of hassle or argument.

Above and Beyond Sevice at Rickis.com

By Sally

With all the negative reviews I think we need to praise good merchants as well. Last week I placed an order with Rickis online. A few days later I received a personal email apologizing that their system has mistakenly said my item was available but wasn’t in stock. Instead of just cancelling my items they searched around and found the item for me in-store and they would be sending it to me purolator no charge. What excellent customer service. Not only did they keep me in the loop but they went above and beyond to find the item for me. Thank you Rickis.com for the excellent personalized service.

Amazing Customer Service From Clearly Contacts

By Ashley

I needed a new pair of glasses, as my new prescription I was given by my optometrist is stronger than my current prescription. I had heard a lot about Clearly Contacts on SC and other areas on the web, and decided to give them a try. I ordered two pairs, one regular pair of glasses, and one pair of sunglasses, and used the coupon code I found on SC. I received my order 4 days later, and the glasses were great quality!

However, the frames were too large for my face and didn’t look right on me. I called their customer service department (which has excellent hours too by the way!) and asked if I could return them and place a new order. She promptly sent me a prepaid Fedex label to ship them back, and said that they cover the cost of shipping for returns! The return process was quick and simple, and I was only on the phone for maybe 10 minutes. I placed a new order a few days ago and am waiting for my new glasses to arrive. I’m very happy with their customer service and the quality of the glasses they sell. I highly recommend them!

FANTASTIC Service at Home Hardware in Brampton

By Catherine

Yesterday I was out shopping to find a particular item I had never bought before, it was recommended to me by someone I know. My first stop was Canadian Tire at Shoppers world (only because it is closest to my house). After staring blankly at the rows of products I saw someone walk down the aisle and quickly looked to see if I was lucky enough to encounter a sales associate but sadly it was just another shopper. I left without buying what I was looking for (or ever seeing one associate on the sales floor) and headed over to the new Home Hardware on Hansen just off of Queen near Rutherford. I was greeted by 3 different people- one associate helped me find exactly what I was looking for (and for a great price) then apologized for making me wait while she ran to the back to check with someone else about the product. I told them I was so pleased with their service and friendly attitudes. I actually left there smiling! I will definitely go there for any of my household needs and suggest the rest of Brampton do the same! Be sure to check it out- Home hardware on Hansen just off of Queen st. ! LOVE IT!!

Very Poor Customer Service at Sears Canada

By Colin

I purchased a 25 Cu Ft refridgerator from Sears Canada Yorkdale Store in September, which was too deep for my cabinet space. I then purchased a counter depth one 20.9 Cu ft from Sears to replace the big one day later. The first fridge was delivered and setup by two small Indian guys. Two bigger Black guys showed three weeks later and said they could not pick up the old one and deliver and setup the new smaller fridge because it was too big. They said that it was a three man job and it was the first day on the job for one of the delivery guys.

My complaint is specificially the way this whole thing was handled. I was told that the new fridge would be delivered on Friday Sept 24th. It was not because it arrived at the warehouse too late. I was then told that it will be delivered on Tuesday, Sept 28th between 5 and 9 p.m. The truck came at 3 p.m. and left. The delivery was then scheduled for Oct 2nd and, you guess right! The delivery still was not completed. Now they are asking me to take another day off on Wednesday Oct 6th. Is FOUR Days off for an appliance delivery a reasonable expectation?

Serenity Apparel in Saskatoon, SK‏: Amazing Service!

By Kim/cdnchk

I should start this by stating that I imagine I’ve been so accustomed to mediocre customer service for such a long time that I’m just bowled over by the fantastic customer service I received at this small business on 2nd Avenue in Downtown Saskatoon. And for the record, I’m not shilling for them; I just had such a great experience there that I’m still smiling and can’t stop talking about how great they are!

Serenity Apparel is an independently owned yoga wear, casual fashion and athletic apparel for men and women store located in downtown Saskatoon. Their store is located in the former Hub City Collectibles building, and they are looking at opening another location in the Centre Mall sometime in mid August or so until the end of December as a trial run.

This is a slightly long-ish story, so bear with me; it totally adds to the whole experience I had with Diane (the owner of the business) and Serenity.

I had seen their advertisements in the local paper for a while, but I’ve always been a bit lazy about going downtown. The parking, the busy, the whole having to leave the safety and familiarity of my suburban bosom was just not worth the hassle. (I know, I know, it’s just Saskatoon. But add to this my not “needing” stuff and my non-shopping moods and it’s just so easy to stay at home.) Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), the Annual Second Avenue Sidewalk Sale allowed me the excuse/opportunity to visit the store and check out its merchandise. I was there with a friend, who was also reluctant to acquire more stuff.

It was a busy day, as it was the first of a three day sale event that stretched three city blocks and a bit more. We’ll cut through some of the non-essentials now and get to the end of that day’s events/haul. I purchased two pairs of pants of the same style pant (in two different sizes for now and post-weight loss) and a top for running, while my friend purchased one pair of the same pants I purchased. We will note that due to these items being 70% off the regular price, they were a final sale, and not eligible for exchange, refund or any of that. We decided that since the pants legs were a touch too long for both of us, I’d hem them after washing.

Washing and hemming done and pants delivered to their respective owners later, I decided to put on one of the pairs of pants (the now size) and go for a morning run. Well, suffice it to say, I couldn’t run, since the pants were too loose and kept slipping off my hips. I went home, checked the paper tag, and saw that they were the correct size. Yet when I checked the tag inside the pants, it turned out the pants were an entire size too large for me (and thus not the size stated on the paper tag). This was completely unexpected, since it is customary that the pants size should match the size on the paper price tag.

Now imagine my consternation when I thought of how I could not wear these pants, and could not yet wear the smaller size because I have not slimmed down enough yet. I thought I was stuck with a pair of pants that I could not wear, though really the fault could not be said was solely my own. I decided to give the store a call and see if there was anything that could be done, thought I did not think anything could be done, since these were final sale items.

I spoke to Diane, and she was very understanding. We concluded that the tagging was factory error. She then stated that I could come in any time and that she would replace the wrong sized pants I had with one of the correct size. This was very unexpected, but was a pleasant development.

So off I went today, since I had other errands to run in that area. I walked in, and stated that I had called the day previous. Diane recognized the situation at once, and after looking over the receipt and the offending (! haha) pants, she led me to another rack and helped me pick out some pants to try. I tried one pair in black and purple on, and it was perfect. I couldn’t decide between the black and purple and the black and green, though they were the same style. Diane then generously declared that she wanted me to have both, since she felt so bad about the sizing (though I stress that it was no fault of hers, her employees or her store) and factory error as well as the hassle that I had to go through.

I had to dash, as I had to go run some other errands and make a trip to the airport, otherwise I’d have picked up some more items. But having received such great customer service at this store, I know I’ll be back. I heartily recommend this store to everyone here, and to all of my friends and family. Diane demonstrated that her customers are important to her, and she went above and beyond to provide satisfaction. Though the fault with the sizing was not hers, she was willing to make amends and ensure that a first time customer was satisfied with her purchases and thus would become a repeat customer.

Diane and Serenity Apparel obviously know the importance of customer service and satisfaction. I encourage you to visit and check out the merchandise and see what a wonderful shopping experience can be like!

Dairy Queen Ottawa Canada-Awesome Service!

By Nita2603

Hi guys,

So I just wanted to add a positive review to the mix….
So my husband and I recently went do DQ in Ottawa - on Hazeldean Rd, for those who live in the capital as well. I, having a severe nut allergy, usually dread those thing, since people tend to be rude, don’t care or plainly are not informed.
So anyways, I was wondering if one of the Blizzards had nuts in it, and the young man went and checked for me, said no and then dissapeared. After 6 minutes of waiting, he came back with our ice creams, apologizing for the wait and explained, that he wanted to be careful and clean the machine out for me, in order to be sure. WOW. That had never ever happened before. They still told me they couldn’t garantee anything (that’s a given), but I actually felt confident, and since I am typing this right now, you guys know it went well. ;-)

So needless to say, I wrote DG HQ, telling them about the fantastic care I had received and they wrote back and told me that the young man has been recognized for his efforts. Awesome, he should be. Believe me, I know where I am getting my next ice cream from.

Fellowes Paper Shredders - AMAZING Customer Service! WOW!

By 2jk19

So…I purchased a Fellowes brand paper shredder for my dad for his birthday. It was purchased awhile ago (unsure of exact date and I no longer had the receipt). I did however have the box which has the UPC of course and a model number label affixed to it.

I called customer service and told the really nice lady that the shredder always jams, it doesn’t cut well, etc. She apologized, explained a couple things to me, and took down my information. Having no receipt didn’t seem to pose much of a problem because I had proof of my purchase (the box).

I scanned the upc to her and she quickly offered to send me a brand new machine, FREE of charge! It was shipped and received just ONE day after I had spoke with her on the phone! She sent me a better model too! I was soo very happy with the amazing customer service and prompt attention to the issue that I was having with their products.

I will most definetely be purchasing their products again (they make great gifts!) I also don’t have to send the broken one in - she just said to use it for parts or cut the cord off and dispose of it. I cut the cord off and disposed of the machine, but kept the really nice mesh bin for an office waste basket!

Know that you can count on this company for GREAT customer service :)

Thanks Fellowes!!

Great Customer Service at Off Your Rocker‏

By Amused Insider

I just bought a rocking chair from an online store to finish my nursery.

The owner-operator was very personable and customer-oriented. Quite a difference from the usual BIG BOX stores. He emailed several times the same day to answer my questions and find out my needs.

He was able to build the chair extra wide for me and he emailed pictures of various fabrics so that I could pick the perfect one. Yes, he went out to look at fabrics to send me pix of what he could find to match my request for something green. He also offered to mail me samples of the fabrics to I could see them in person.

A solid wood rocker and ottoman shipped to me for less than $400 is a bargain and it’s going to be an heirloom I can pass on to my own grandchildren.

Costco Canada Praises

By Jimmie Jayson

With all the negative reviews here, I would like to add the about the pleasant experiences I have had shopping at Costco.

I am not a “big time” shopper but Costco is a store that is so diversified in products, from groceries to motor oil to patio furniture to vitamins and all items are of good quality.

I am not an employee or am I affiliated to the store in any way other than just a loyal shopper..

I may add they have an excellent return policy that I have used on a few occasions.

And bonus, they pay their employees a decent living wage unlike other huge chains.

From their meat supply to their service, they are second to none.

Oh, and now our local Costco sells gasoline too and its always three to four cents a liter cheaper than anyone else.

Chako Restaurant….Great food and a lot of fun‏

By Jane

Last year my husband and I took both our mother to Chako Korean BBQ Restaurant for mother’s day dinner. We enjoyed it very much. The restaurant offers all you can eat BBQ or you can just order off the menu. The restaurant is huge and well designed; it can accommodate over 200 guests.

We love Korean BBQ. We used to go to a small Korean restaurant, and it would cost at least $30 per person without any alcohol drinks. We found out Chako Restaurant is all you can eat type of setting, and only cost $16 per person for dinner, and even less for lunch, we have to go there. For people who never try Korean BBQ, it’s a really fun way to dine. There are individual grills at every table; the guest would take part in do-it-yourself grilling. Remember it’s all you can eat; you’ll just keep re-ordering the meat, seafood or vegetables of your choice. It also comes with appetizers, rice, soup and dessert.

Chako is one of the Destiny group restaurant, they have a number of restaurants featuring Asian cuisine. We’d visited many of them; the majority of them are worth re-visiting. Unfortunately, most of their restaurant located in Richmond Hill; it’s a bit far for us. I heard they opened a new Japanese buffet restaurant in Mississauga; we might go there this Mother’s day.
