Costco Canada Praises

By Jimmie Jayson

With all the negative reviews here, I would like to add the about the pleasant experiences I have had shopping at Costco.

I am not a “big time” shopper but Costco is a store that is so diversified in products, from groceries to motor oil to patio furniture to vitamins and all items are of good quality.

I am not an employee or am I affiliated to the store in any way other than just a loyal shopper..

I may add they have an excellent return policy that I have used on a few occasions.

And bonus, they pay their employees a decent living wage unlike other huge chains.

From their meat supply to their service, they are second to none.

Oh, and now our local Costco sells gasoline too and its always three to four cents a liter cheaper than anyone else.

YES! I agree! About them now selling gas - they have an American Express Credit Card that earns you %’s back - 2% back on gas at their location and I believe you said 8cents off the price! WOW! LOok into it if you are on the market for a new card - I took a pamphlet and someone was speaking to me about it - sounds really worthwhile and no annual fee :)

How refreshing to see some positive reviews for once! And I have to say, I agree whole-heartedly! I love Costco and have been a loyal shopper there for many years. And you’re right - they DO have an excellent return policy.

There is a gas station at the Barrie location just of the 400 Hwy at Mapleview. It was the first in Ontario but there will be more.

YES, YOU ARE RIGHT THEY HAVE A GREAT RETURN POLICY…HOWEVER BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY TOO. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE RETURN FROZEN GOODS (MEAT, PIZZA, CHEESE) AND EVEN THE SPRING SALAD MIX. THE CLERK GLADLY REFUNDED THE ITEMS AND THEN PROCEEDED TO CALL ANOTHER CLERK TO PUT THE ITEMS BACK TO THE FREEZER OR THE AISLE WHERE THEY BELONG! I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE THE CUSTOMER BUYING THOSE ITEMS.

My employer and I went into the store to sign-up for membership which was not completed today. It is very unfortunate that I felt I was not treated properly. Either you want my business or you do not.

Not too long ago, a sales rep, came to my employment and explained everything to us, but they did not explain the requirements that were required to sign up under the business name. I must say that I did not care for the attitude of the lady at the sign-up desk. Hopefully, others will not be treated as I was.

    @ Customer
The returned items would have gone back to a section of the freezer to be written off and destroyed at the end of the evening. Food NEVER goes back on the shelf. I know because I have had the sad job of destroying a lot of food. Costco is super careful about that sort of thing. It’s why all fresh food staff have to waer hairnets and even beard covers, even though it isn’t law.

As a former Marketing Rep for Costco, I’m sorry to hear that the Membership Desk gave you a hard time Sharon. A Business membership does require at least 3 government-issued documents to prove that the business is authentic. Costco still takes cheques from business and regular members so proof is needed of course. If you give the local warehouse a call and speak to one of the Marketers, I’m sure that they would be very willing to visit you at your business and get you set up.
