The Critter Barn Exeter Ontario Canada Pet Shop Store DO NOT SHOP THERE

the_critter_barn_pet_shop

I recently spent just under $100 at the Critter Barn Pet Shop Exeter Ontario pet store buying turtle supplies and 2 red eared baby slider  turtles. The owner wasn’t very helpful and was pretty rude to my friend but I decided to still get them since I’ve been looking for turtles for a while.

The one seemed to be pretty lethargic from the time I got it but I didn’t think much of it. 5 days after I bought it’s passed away. No worries I figured, every pet store I’ve ever dealt with has a 7 day guarantee to replace the fish, etc that passes in that time.

Not this lady, she doesnt guarantee her animals once they leave the shop. Apparently if it had died on the ride home she just doesn’t care. I of course know its a business, but this is bad business. I would of continued to buy my supplies etc from her but now shes lost a customer. She was so rude to me on the phone that when I hung up my husband said wow she is not a nice lady at all.

I’ve never been to a pet store that absolutely doesn’t care if their animals die the second you walk out the store. 0 compassion from this woman.  I’ve always had replacements should something go wrong. I grew up with turtles. I am not a novice.  Would of it been that hard to replace it with another turtle that she probably paid $2 for? No.

Anyways I urge everyone whos thinking about going there to go to  a larger chain, at least theyd replace your animal in a 7 day period. I’m out my money, a turtle, and my kids are very saddened. I’m just disgusted at the way she conducts business.

Yoga Journal False Advertising‏

By Gord

Chapters Calgary Dalhouise, Yoga Journal BIG ad on the front “Free DVD Sampler” . Bought the mag, took it home, tried to order the DVD, Nope! Must a US resident. Mag had “Canada” on the UPC. I tried to order with a US address, Nope! Tried 4 different Email’s nobody wants anything to do with the problem. Pass the buck all the way to “e-mail delivery status: Ignored”

Little research shows me that mini mag was issued in 2008 US wide. Guess they figured they could flog the extras to the northern peons.

False Adverstising Claim about to be filed I think.

Fresh Home & Garden Toronto‏-Umbrella Misery

By Michael S.

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I purchased a $450 Treasure Garden market umbrella From Fresh Home & Garden which snapped in half 8 days after I brought it home. When I went back to return it, I was told by the store’s co-owner that they don’t warrantee the product and that I was basically out of luck. This was not mentioned at the time of purchase, nor is it indicated anywhere on the receipt. I had to ask for the manufacturer’s contact info to see if I could submit a claim directly. Instead, my claim was forwarded to the local Treasure Garden dealer who informed me that “Treasure Gardens warranty specifically states that acts of nature …are not covered by their manufacturer’s warranty.” As of April 23, 2010 I still have not received a copy of this warranty, nor have I received any satisfactory resolution to my claim. Upon further investigation, I was able to find the same umbrella through Amazon.com for $149. Obviously I was duped by a unscrupu
lous retailer whose outrageous markup practices lulled me into believing I was buying a higher quality product than I actually received, as well as a manufacturer whose warranty protects no one but themselves.

Damage Resulting = I’m out $450. The retailer has since offered to sell me a replacement for $225 which would put me out $675 for an umbrella which is obviously not worth a cent.

Town Fire Place & Patio, Ajax - Good Product…Bad

By GAA

We recently purchased a retractable awning from this business.  While the product is good, the service is definitely not.  The owner of the business came and did a consultation for us where we described what we wanted from the awning and what it was supposed to do.  That included where it was to be mounted in order to accomplish the result we were after.  That would be above the patio light so as not to block it off.  The awning was ordered based on the consultation but when it was installed, it was painfully obvious that it was too small to do what we wanted it to do.  Granted, the measurements on the order were exactly what we got but the consultation we received grossly missed the mark.
When we determined that the only way to get this $1,700.00 mess close to fixed was to move the awning below the patio light which would require me to purchase and install a new light, we were told by the owner that he wasn’t running a charity and it would cost $150.00 or it wasn’t getting moved.
So remember, when John says “Excellence in service is my business – you have my word on it”…..don’t believe him!!  There are other businesses out there that I’m sure will live up to that statement.

Extra Foods in Sechelt BC-Plant This!

By Louis Konkin

This is a heartfelt apology—

I went to the Extra Foods Sechelt branch today and got a lecture (twice from 2 separate personnel) on bringing plant materials into the store  to pay for them—Apparently, there was a till hidden on the outside set up for my convenience—-Also apparently, there were employees working there (again for my convenience) but they must have been near the hidden till the 15 minutes that I took to select the Dwarf Lillies—(After the lecture I felt like the Dwarf Lillies, dried out and unwanted)

I did not see the sign that said that I should pay for the plants on the outside and not inside—I felt really bad that I didn’t read the red sign with small print about the till because the lectures that I received after I took the plants in made me realize that the employees at that store are pretty adamant that such an incident should not happen again–(They said “next time” twice)——I can onIy imagine what the penalty would be if I did take plants in again—Perhaps I would be forced to work the plant area for a day at the BC minimum wage—- Now I feel better!! —Thank you for the opportunity to get the guilt off my conscience———I felt like my mother was there(she’s gone to a better place for 17 years now)——

Arctic Gardens Vegetables-Ewwww!

By Steph

Anyone else have the same opinion as me on the ASPARAGUS…it sucks!

I have tried different time settings on my microwave, nothing helps.

The asparagus is STRINGY, super soggy and it tastes like anything but asparagus…well, it tastes a bit like asparagus.

I noticed today that the asparagus is a product of Chili. Seriously? We could find some country closer to product the asparagus??

Maybe that would help with the flavour?

So, before I go out this week and buy a big bag of AG frozen beans on sale, sometime please tell me if it’s worth it.

GreatGlasses 3 for 1‏-Horrible Experience With Contact Lens Purchase

By Sweeneym

Do not, do not, do not get fooled into this company. It may be fine if you’re only ordering glasses, but NEVER order contacts with this company.
I had ordered contacts, unsure of what I was actually getting for free, and received them 2.5 weeks later…unacceptable for a place this size. Even Wal-Mart keeps them in stock.
The trials weren’t a good fit, so I brought them back to exchange and they actually argued with me that this was the best brand “it’s our house brand”…uh-huh. I put my foot down, as they are MY eyes, and placed my order. A week and a half later got a call that it’ll be an additional 2 weeks to get them…3 weeks in total. Obviously not happy.
They told me that I could continue wearing the trials they had given me, which at this point were already a month old (2 week-wear contacts)…”it’s safe, they’re always made to be worn longer”.
After not hearing from them for another 2.5 weeks, I called in to find out what is happening. I was told my trials were in, but not the contacts yet, but they’ll be in soon.
Told them I couldn’t wait as I have now been wearing bi-weeklies for 6 weeks, they refused to give me a refund, so I picked up the trials. That was a week ago.
Since they still haven’t called I decided to once again call in, only to find out that they “filled” the order when I came to pick up the trials and now will have to “re-order” them. It could take up to another 2 weeks for me to get these contacts in.
Absolutely disgusting!
NEVER EVER get your contacts from this place.
Just horrible service.
Buying contacts from a blind man in some alley way would be better.

Avoid Figment Cablesystems-Alberta/BC‏

By Internet

Avoid this Company.Sub-standard Internet service-fast dial-up is actually more reliable. As for Customer Service-check out Rip-off Reports; I agree with the analysis by another Consumer- well worded. I was disgusted by the loud mouth, argumentative receptionist when trying to resolve a problem.Don’t bother trying to call-never answer their phones and don’t return messages.I guess the Customer issues are piled up too high.AVOID!

Lufthansa Customer Service = Garbage!‏

By PB

My brother and mother flew to India last minute because of a death in the family. They booked their tix with Lufthansa.

I changed my mother’s flight back to Toronto from India so that she was coming home a month later. My brother however wanted to keep his original return ticket.

The day my brother was supposed to fly back he tried to check-in online and found out that they had changed both my mother’s and his tickets.

When I called the Canadian Lufthansa Office to straighten this out. The manager there told me the flight was now full and he couldn’t create an additional seat for him. The soonest he could fly out would be in a week.

The manager told me that there was also no way to determine whether the agent handling my call made a mistake because no notes were written down. Why would the agent write it down? When I suggested that Lufthansa should rule in favor of the customer, I was told the customer is “NOT ALWAYS RIGHT”. I was dumb-founded by his answer.

He did tell me that we would waive the change fee for moving my brother’s flight to the following week. WOW…what generousity.

We have a lot of family in Canada that flies internationally, we will NEVER be flying Lufthansa again. Mind you I doubt any senior managers at Lufthansa care what is going on in their Peterborough office where the manager there is not accountable to anyone.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that the airline companies NEED to be treating their customers like gold in order to stay in business in an age when there are LOTS of choices and customers are more likely to stay loyal to companies that are either cheap or have good service. Lufthansa is NEITHER.

Acai Berry Product “Sample” Scam

By The Traveller

I recently ordered a “sample” of acai berry product. The charge went on my credit card prior to delivery and I did receive it. Two days later, I have 2 new charges for $ 61.59 each also charged to my account. I thought I was getting a sample only but when you order it you are also signing up for a constant monthly supply and charges are automatically put on your credit card. I phoned and complained and had to argue with someone for over 1/2 hour. Finally, he said he would remove the charges. So far, I am waiting to see if this happens!

Vacation Presentation Scam‏

By Ressie

I went to a vacation package sales meeting with the promise of receiving a free trip for 2. Of course I was skeptickle but asked the guy on the phone”Are you sure there are no strings?” He assured me there were not. I went and did in fact get a voucher for a “free” trip. However after paying a $40 admin fee I realized it may not be so free. However with a $40 investment I kept going. I filled out all the forms and got another voucher. Now it was a $65 admin fee. I decided it was worth it for hotel and airfare for two to Las Vegas. I then got another voucher. I sent that one in as now I was in for $105 and refused to quit. Then I hit the bottom line….$300 in “taxes” and a maximum $250 in air fare. Bottom line was my “free” trip would have cost us over $900.

So I hope you all learn my expensive lesson…if it seems to good to be true…IT IS!
