Sunquest: Cancelled Our Vacation!

Five months ago I booked a flight to the Dominican Republic for my self and my husbands 20th Wedding Anniversary. I was informed on Feb.17 2012, after Sunquest Vacations took full payment for this vacation package, that they would have to cancel our all inclusive Vacation.
This is the explanation they gave me:
“DUE TO MARKET CONDITIONS YVR PUJ PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 25 MARCH -08 APRIL
FOR THISDUE TO MARKET CONDITIONS YVR PUJ PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 25 MARCH -08 APRIL
FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE ALL PASSENGERS WILL RECEIVE $100.00 FTV P/P
**OPTIONS**|CHANGE-DATE/DEST/HTL-AT SYSTEM RATE|CANCEL WITH FULL REFUND|”

This Customer service is unacceptable. Vacation times for a couple to  coordinate together is extremely difficult. We where also going to meet our best friends in the Dominican and enjoy a week with them without our children.  We also had to arrange child-minding for our time away.

So all Sunquest Vacations wants to give me for this major
INCONVENIENCE is  a $100 Travel Voucher per passenger, and a full refund in which I haven’t seen credited on my credit card yet! I have called the company a number of times and I am not getting anywhere with them! Has anyone had a similar experience with Sunquest Vacations?  Please Help!

OMG that’s so much worse than rain on the entire vacation. I do hope you get your trip fixed.

Have you tried writing on their facebook wall? I often find, because it’s publicly posted, they try to address your needs more immediately. It’s bad press otherwise! Hope things get sorted out.

Any chance of flying with Sunquest via another departure city? Living in Edmonton usually means flying to Calgary, YVR or Toronto for many destinations.

Call them and ask about this option

Yikes so sorry to hear that. Yes I agree 100% that is horrendous. You should contact another travel agency and explain the situation and perhaps they can help you save your day. Competitors love to scoop in and make themselves look good in the face of their competition.

    Really sucks so sorry

Sunquest rescheduled my holiday to Mexico with only a few weeks notice. They changed the date and time (red eye flights). If I wanted a holiday I basically had to accept their holiday - all other flights during Easter was either fully booked or extremely expensive. To add insult to injury I had to pay extra to pre-book my seats (I didn’t want my kids sitting next to strangers all alone on a red eye). Although they offerred $150 in vouchers - it is useless to me because I will probably never book with them again and I can only afford a holiday every 3-5 years. I hope nothing else goes wrong….
