Sears Canada Delivery Problems

by PC

I had a bad experience at Sears Canada.

I wanted to get myself organized and purchased a mattress bed set for my new apartment. I purchased it 2 months in advance in march so it could come in June. I received the reminder phone message 2 days in advanced that the bed was coming and to prepare to have the space ready. Well, that morning of the delivery Sears had the nerve to phone me and tell me that they couldn’t make the delivery. After lots of calls asking why when it was ordered 2 months in advanced all I got was answers that they apologize for the inconvenience the item never made the delivery truck. But, I kept on telling them 2 months in advanced that is not acceptable for a major store to have goofed up on. I ended up cancelling and went to the wonderful Sleep Country. There I paid a little more but, the delivery came through and they were nice. My end result is I am not going to purchase any major items again from Sears Canada and let everybody know about this Bad experience.

Sears treat their employees like garbage. I know, I worked there. This contributes to a turnover rate higher than McDonald’s and a sense of apathy that leads to extreme shoddiness. Somebody probably had a hangover or was just too depressed to show up that morning. Sears workers have no benefits, work very close to the minimum wage, and are basically treated like scum by incompetent management.

I also bought a mattress set through Sears 2 years ago and waited THREE times for them to deliver. I called each time and the call centre person or whatever said they would credit my sears card fifty whole dollars.
And then I never even go that.
    Lesson learned
I have so many better places to shop than Sears.

  3. You know so many interesting infomation. You might be very wise. I like such people. Don’t top writing.

We bought a deep freeze from the Langley BC store on June 28th 2009. We were not told that this model requires a 9 volt battery to activate a low temperature alarm if the power goes out. This battery is located at the bottom of the rear panel; this is not a user friendly location. As we are 78 yrs old we cannot move the deep freeze even when it is empty. Sears will charge us for a service call every time we need to have this battery replaced. So I say BYE-BYE SEARS.

I purchased a fridge on december 26 2009, I have not received yet after almost 4 weeks, they dont even know where it was shipped to, and when I called customer service numerous times, the answer was, they still need 5 to 7 working day to ship it and I received the bill for it to pay.

Bought a refrigrator late December 2009 and have been having Humdity problems ever since. Call for service and get a waiting times of 8 in the morning to 8 at night. They say no way to narrow it down. This has happened a couple of times. At what age is Sears working ? With todays techno, that is the best they can do ? Just amazing. My frig is still not working and we are getting the run-a-round. I guess we will need to take this public. Never again will we buy similar type products from SEARS. Maybe elsewhere is worst, don’t know but SEARS has lost our trust. We bought from SEARS thinking to get some kind of service but we were miss-inform. I guess we thought SEARS was what it use to be. Bye Bye SEARS.

May of 2010 Sears personal made a delivery to my daghter’s new home, first to pick up product that was delivered in error the week before and later to drop off the right stuff. The second set of delivery men vandalized my daughter’s home. The term vandilism was first used by the police officer who repsonded after my daughter was made to feel threatened by Sears’ repsonse to her complaints. The 2 men went into almost every room of the house, entering through the front door and exiting throught the back gate, marking, denting, scraping and breaking as they went, with or without packages in their hands. The back gate was torn from its hinges. Freshly painted walls dented and sratched and the new couch ripped and chipped. Sears head office sent out a carpenter whom they say deterimined the damage was pre-existing and therefore a minor problem. I have not heard of the trained art of ‘forensic carpentry’, but I’m a good photographer and unfortunately for Sears, I was there that day to take pictures of the new home. I stopped when the 2nd set of delivery men arrived and took the rest later, providing doucmented proof of the timing of the extensive damage. Sears has been nothing less then criminal in their handling of their responsibilty to my daughter and I expect her to follow through with a well deserved law suit as do the police.
P.S this happened 2 days before her wedding and Sears personal accused her of not being serious because she would not spend another day before her wedding waiting for more sears reps to show up at her home.

We purchasea sofa from Sears beacuse they have a good sale and no HST. The sofa arrived in a week. However, the deliver guys showed up and brought the sofa in and wanted us to sign the paper right away. We were signing the paper while one guy was putting feet on the sofa. And then he screw up the middle foot. It just wouldn’t go in or out and the guy told us, oh, that should be good enough. so I check it, I said, no, it’s broken. and he slowly walked away and said he will call Sears and had them phone us right away to replace the part. My husband asked them to give the paper back to indicated the problem. They were just sitting in their big truck and wouldn’t let us to see if he actually wrote it on their paper. They needed to get going and bye. so our sofa still sat up-side-down the in the living room, we didn’t even check if the front side looked ok or not. Of course, no one called back. I called Sears and no one answered the phone, so I left messege. Let’s see if anybody called back. I learned - NEVER SIGN ANY PAPER UNTIL YOUR PURCHASE IS SET UP PERFECTY!

By the way, I am not sure if I should complain Sears or not because the delivery company is the contractor for Sears. One more thing is that they don’t even put booty on their shoes (not a steal toe shoe, just a regular runner) and without even asking and walk right in to our carpet. Big NO NO for me.

Sears has got to be the worst company! On top of a shipping charge, they have the gall to add a $3.00 handling fee. Their prices are way above other companies as well so try elsewhere BEFORE you check Sears.
I have long given up wading through their website. They never provide enough details or information about the item which is likely why they have that “ask a question” link for every item. If relevant info is provided in the first place, buyers would not need to ask questions. Tried calling? The people who answer don’t even know! If that isn’t enough, the quality is poor for household items which are overpriced.

I am expecting a delivery today… between 10-6… I had asked the sales rep to have the driver call me with a rough time frame of when they would arrive, he didn’t! So I have just spent 30mins on the phone with the delivery department who could not even tell me when they might arrive, when I began to complain I was transferred to customer service who also could not help me.
I was told that she would make a note saying I am not happy with the delivery process, when I asked if anything will be done about this complaint I was basically told NO. That the notes don’t mean anything and nothing is every really resolved by these so called “notes” to the complaint dept. So much for quality customer service!
So here I am, wasting the next 4 hours of my day WAITING for a truck to arrive… Needless to say I will not be buying anything from Sears again that requires delivery.

Sears customer service is the WORST!
I purchased a mattress set last week and was told it would be delivered yesterday between 7 am and 1 pm. I asked if they could provide a narrower window, but they said no. So I took most of the day off work to await the delivery. I even called Sears early in the morning to confirm the delivery would happen that day before 1 and was assured it would. By 5 minutes past 1 there was still no delivery, and I left for work.
I called to complain and Sears told me the mattress set could be delivered today between 7 am and 1 pm. I indicated that this was not acceptable. I do not have another 6 hours to wait around for a delivery. I spoke with a fellow named Tom in customer service who then told me arrangements had been made for the delivery first thing this morning between 7 and 9. Again I waited….
By 9:30 the delivery had still not been made. I called customer service again and they told me no such assurance (delivery first thing this morning) had been made and the delivery was “scheduled” to happen by 1 today.
I am extremely frustrated and fed up. I cancelled the order and am now off to Sleep County for a mattress set.
I have no interest in purchasing products from a company that does not respect their customers

I purchased a crib from sears and after waiting three weeks for delivery I get a call less then twelve hours b4 the delivery date to let me know that it was not in stock. I also purchased a mattress at the same time and was told that they could deliver the mattress. I told them I wanted both items to be delivered at the same time so I called the delivery department and told them to reschedule. Funny thing is on the delivery date, guy calls me up at 7 in the morning and said he had my mattress and wanted to deliver it. What kind of incompetance is going on with these idiots? Doesn’t their computer link any orders together? Anyways, called the customer service dept. No one knows anything. Given another number to call. Still waiting for my stuff.

I think we all should send complaint letters to sears corporate headquarters in Toronto. Address them to the CEO Dene Rogers so that he is made aware of what is going on. The address is on their website. Also we should contact our local media department that does segments on consumer concerns so that they can air a story about the bad service experience with Sears. I’m sending my letter tomorrow and also considering contacting my local television station, unless they bribe them by purchasing advertising time I think they might do a story.

$4500 in water damage from Sears fridge!

Our new high-end Electrolux fridge was delivered a month late, one of 4 appliances we ordered from Sears. Some surly, rude delivery men came to the house to deliver it. They had the nerve to tell us people who live in our city are too picky so they hate delivering here.

After we hooked up the water line to the fridge (since the delivery guys refused to) we watched it for an hour to ensure it was ok. All seemed fine so we went out for a couple of hours, returning home to find the fridge spraying water all over the place. This resulted in $4500 in water damage to our newly renovated home. You can imagine how heartbreaking it was to have to pay to have work re-done that had only just been finished - new drywall, new paint, new carpet, etc.

That was almost 3 months ago. The repair tech has been to our home 4 times with no success. He seems quite nice but does not seem to ever have the correct part to fix the fridge. Last contact was a call from Sears saying they had sent an urgent e-mail to Electroluc and would be back to us in 2 days….that was 10 days ago. In addition, the fridge cannot hold a constant temperature and so it’s always resetting itself to -3C. So we’ve thrown a lot of food over the last couple of weeks….but we’ve grown quite fond of frozen yogurt in that time - lol!

On the advice of the Customer Service Rep I spoke to, I sent an e-mail with pictures of the damage and re-construction, the invoice from the contractor who fixed the damage and a full explanation. We received an e-mail from a ‘Supervisor’ in Customer Service, saying they are investigating. I’ve been caling her every few days since that e-mail but no answer.

After reading all the stories I doubt we’ll ever hear from them again. I’m going to send a hard copy of all of this to Dene Rogers but am not holding my breath. It’s a real shame since we’ve been shopping at Sears for over 30 years. However I suspect this is the end of our loyalty unless they can come through with a satisfactory solution in the next couple of weeks.

Sears delivery isn’t really Sears anymore - they laid off most of their delivery staff a while back, and contract delivery out to a third-party (they did the same thing with repair technicians).
The delivery company is a delivery “freelancer” - they deliver for many businesses, not just Sears - so missing one delivery is no big deal.

Sears parts service is terible there is no contact number to parts warehouses. They have sent me the wrong part and I am afraid the second part they are trying to send me from Edmonton is the wrong one again. But due to your complexshaw.ca parts management I am unable to contact any one to discuss my problem. It seems sears gives a lot of service to sell a product but they make it very difficult to obtain service if you have a problem.

You got a call? Luxury service! They never bothered calling me. I called them after the delivery window expired and they said they were “running up to 2 hours late”. Four hours after the delivery window I gave up - I had things to do.

So here I am, a prisoner in my own home for another 7 hours. It will be interesting to see if they show up this time.

I will not buy from Sears again.

I purchased a new Kenmore stove at the Sears Outlet store. The warehouse never bothered to match up the serial number of the stove with the packing invoice. The funny thing is my friend bought the same make and model as I did. I noticed her stove once I started cleaning it and saw a tell tell scratch. I called the sears outlet and was told no manage call back tomorrow. K. So I called the toll free they were helpful but the store was not picking up. The lovely part of this whole issue is my friend has my stove and I hers. For warranty and servicing both stoves will now have to be picked up and sent to the warehouse for re delivery. This was my first and only time buying a major appliance. You would think that someone would have had the good sense to match the serial number and not just rely on the pretty pictures. Thank god I did not buy a fridge from them. I am sure they will fix it till then microwave and toaster oven.

we just bought upgraded our mattress at sears home store because the beautyrest we bought was deemed defective. first off, prices at sears was not competitive, but we had no other choice since we can’t get refund back for our old mattress. Still remembering the delivery nightmare we had when we first purchased our old mattress along with some appliances, i was very skeptical with their delivery service four years later. I guess it has improved because our mattress actually came on the day it was suppose to, however we never received the ‘call an hour before delivery’ like we were promised! secondly the driver refused to take the old mattress because it wasn’t bagged. But we were never told or given a bag by the store!!! So now, after having taken a day off, i will have to arrange for another pick up and take another day off work! The Sears call centre was completely rude and unhelpful. I am beyond furious, this is a lot of inconvenience for something so simple! I would never EVER again purchase from Sears!!! Customer service sucks and price suck, i want to be made feel good with my purchases, not end up spending the $$ and feeling like crap! Be warned if you ever purchase from sears, don’t expect any good experience.

totally fed up with sears and their lack of customer service. their 2rd party delivery company are half-wits! really, sears….you have rude, disrespectful delivery guys? after a failed attempt to carry the fridge into our townhouse, i called their customer service number and after being on hold for 15 minutes, the rep started the conversation with asking for my phone number, then went silent for about a minute or so (hello?)….then went on to be presumptuous and say “the delivery window hasn’t passed and that the truck is running a bit late” (uhhh, no it’s not - it just left my house!) - NOT A GOOD WAY TO START A CONVERSATION - what ever happened to ‘how can i help you today?’. when i didn’t get anywhere with him, i asked to speak to his manager….he responded “it’s a long weekend, there is no manager here….we are a call center only and told me to call back on Tuesday (it was only saturday), thank you - CLICK” he hung up on me! we expected better. when we gave them a second chance to deliver the fridge (2 weeks later!), they tried to lead us on and get us to sign off on the delivery BEFORE it was even out of their truck….yeah right! we took off the hand rail from the wall & the baby gate, emptied our current fridge of its food and shelving, and began removing our front door….all while trying to watch two young kids, then were told the “new” fridge had a huge dent on front freezer door. totally frustrated, we declined the delivery. went to sears the same day and other than them offering to give us a $200 credit IF we accepted the dented fridge (really, sears???? who would want a dented two thousand dollar fridge!), we weren’t happy and got a refund on the spot. we are proud to say that we’ll never recommend sears for any ‘big’ purchases. your customer service ended the minute you had our money….yet we didn’t even have the product. shame on you.

needless to say we will be buying our fridge elsewhere!

Have just spent the night waiting for my new fridge which didn’t come. The delivery people have my phone number but not even a call to say it would not be coming. Although I tried to empty my old fridge as much as possible, there were a few things that will be spoiled by tomorrow — assuming I actually get my fridge. I am SO angry about their lack of service and professionalism. I’ll be buying my other appliances elsewhere that’s for sure. I agree with James — little wonder that Sears’ business is the pits — so is their service.

I bought a mattress. When told I had to wrap up my old one and box spring, I told them I am disabled and could their men help. I would pay. I was yelled at. I injured myself severely bagging the mattress two days in advance; fielded three confirmation calls, cancelled work, cancelled an MRI (my mother had set up the date for me) and hired someone to help wrap the mattresses the _night before_ a Sears person called and said they couldn’t come, perhaps some other day? Long story shorter: slashed mattress cover off, hurting self badly, and asked them if they are on the verge of bankruptcy given this obscene service. I looked and they are. As with the first woman writing, no one apologized or tried to accommodate me. Worst experience I have ever had.
