Future Shop Canada Total Nightmare

By Know better now

Future Shop is a total nightmare.

We purchased a washer & dryer from Future Shop online. I have to say purchased because they took our money immediately. We waited a week to receive a delivery Date..not a delivery, just a delivery date. At the end of 7 full days I cancelled the order as we had paid for 2 large items we were apparently not going to receive. We were told it would be 5-7 days before the credit would be posted….standard. Fine, so we waited. 7 days, 8 days, 9 days. all the time calling future shop “customer service” and getting various answers from “call this number instead” to “please wait another day” to “oh, a supervisor will call you back in 30 minutes, or 1 day or within 48 hours” we could not get an answer as to where our money was.
Finally I called my credit card company to seek a resolution. They immediately approved the charge back as we were charged for goods that were not ever delivered and thankfully I had emails from Future Shop saying we were entitled to our refund. (FYI get it in writing, a phone call means nothing!) It is day 10, I threatened them with our charge back and got a response the same day announcing suddenly our credit was issued. Where was that email a week ago? We shall see if we actually get our money back or if Visa has to take it back from them.

What a horrible business with  the absolute worst customer service I have even encountered. I will make it my business to tell anyone and everyone how they took our money, delivered nothing and have up until now not given our 1500$ back.

Its funny, we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and do you know that Future Shop is calling us everyday now to resolve that issue? Funny when the shoe is on the other foot….

They will charge you and good luck getting a credit when you cancel because they are not delivering your purchase. Buyer be warned. This is not a company you want having your credit card number.

Don’t even get me started….Future Shop is TERRIBLE! We refuse to shop there or Best Buy (same company) for this exact reason. We waited 8 weeks for an appliance, got charged $80 for delivery, then got it delivered, didn’t like it, and returned it (we didn’t believe that it came as described). We didn’t get the delivery fee back but it was just the fact that they charged us immediately for a product that took 8 weeks to deliver. And then to charge us $80 for that delivery service, and then to not get that refunded, especially since we didn’t even like the product delivered? The customer service on this was also spotty. Most of the time, it was like they were pulling standard answers out of a hat when you contacted them just to get through the call. This also happened with a Boxing Day order we had. We waited 4 weeks for a product that was on back order because of the holiday shopping that we told them to forget it….it took 4 weeks to get my money back for a product we didn’t even receive! I complain to everyone about them and avoid them like the plague. The funny thing is that I don’t know anyone who actually likes them….how are they still in business?

We also had a bad experience with Future Shop. Afterwards I Googled “Future Shop Complaints” and found lots of other consumers who had similar problems. Bottom line is before I buy anything over $100 I’m going to Google the company and product–had I done this before buying at Future Shop I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and headaches.

Future Shop is the worst store to shop at. As a suggestion, I tend to shop at local appliance stores and not the big box stores. We have a family run store in Lockport, MB. I have received better pricecs than the larger stores. Free delivery and they take away the old appliance. They have the same products as the larger big box stores. Deal locally people! Give the little guy a chance. We have purchased all our appliances from them.

Future Shop Online is a total nightmare. There customer service is at the very bottom of any company I have ever dealt with. If you receive something that is damaged and return it they will not return your money for ten days after they have received the damaged goods. Bottom line the customer is last…profit is first. Yes, AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! They will only address your concerns with scripted answers. Watch their own customer reviews…all poor reviews are removed. Dishonest or what? Run! Dan

I Bought Kenwood car stereo at Bestbuy, one month ago. They were getting rid of the department for car stereos and installation, so they sent me to Future shop guaranteeing me proper service. Futureshop installed my stereo but the Bluetooth didn’t work. I brought it back 4 times and they couldn’t install it correctly. They finally said its my cars fault, and to take it somewhere else. Well a month went by during that time, and my warranty is up. They said they wouldn’t charge me on installation of the back up camera because they couldn’t install it properly. Well i had to take that back today because the cord melted on the muffler, started a little fire to it. Their 0-2 on installing anything. I strongly encourage people NOT to shop there. Want something done right, go anywhere else! I needed the Bluetooth badly because my parents are elderly and I drive them around to doctors appointments. I need it. I’m also in a wheelchair, C7 quadriplegic, I need both hands to drive. I’m sooooooo frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!! I also can’t get a manager over the age of 22 with experience. They call someone to come talk to me, turns out to be the guy who installed it. or should I say kid!

Well, update time. Its August 19th now, a month later and after talking to the store manager, and having them promise me they’ll fix it. They have ditched me AGAIN! I guess i go to the BBB and Steelonyourside@ctv.ca. Get some tv coverage. Maybe some of your complaints will be rectified alongside mine. I’ll keep you up to date on this so you’ll know what to do as well. 2 wasted months on this is too long. All i wanted was an ins†alation of a stereo. Now its going to be a court case.

Future Shop is terrible, but worse than that is the warranty that they always push the customers to buy and they make the most money out of it. I bought a Sony Ericsson Experia 2 years ago with a product protection plan. Since the cell phone had alway problem, after 2 times exchange I finally decided to go for an IPhone but forgot to switch the warranty. Today I called Future Shop asking for cancellation of this warranty and they simply refused it. It doesn’t make sense to pay money for warranty for a product that does’t exist anymore, but the customer service answers you just like a machine repeating the same thing that this was a contract and you can not cancel it.
So, don’t buy from Future Shop and if you want to buy, DO NOT get the warranty.

My husband and I ordered a washer and dryer online on aug 25th. They immediately took our money and we waited forever for a delivery date. In the email it stated that because of where we live the next possible delivery date would be September 21st. We thought that was a really long time to wait for a delivery but decided to just hold out and wait. September 21st rolled around and our delivery time came and went. No one called or notified us that our delivery was cancelled. We had to call future shop and The representive on the phone told us it was cancelled due to difficult delivery. What the heck does that even mean? I have been On the phone with them for days and we still have no delivery date and no answers!!! I will never ever shop online or step foot in a future shop again. Worst company ever!!!

Received this same lie twice while shopping at Future Shop. Picked a laptop out then asked for help. The sales person didn’t really describe the laptop but went into a huge story about warranty. The sales person started off with a 4-6 hour install time before the computer would be usable then went into future problems the computer will more than likely have. This was so bad I left the store without purchasing the 3 computers I originally went into purchase. The next time I was in was to get one for myself. Same story and I had to make myself feel uncomfortable by shutting the sales person down. They then started again with the warranty and 4-6 hour install time and I had to rudely shut them down again. While picking out a computer I witnessed a sale person going at a female, pushing the warranty for over ½ hours. She said “no†at least a dozen times with the sale person just telling her a different story. I almost walked out of the store again. I got the computer home and guess what, it was running in 30 minutes not the 4-6 hours the sales person said it would be. I am a disappointed customer and I don’t appreciate being lied to.

I bought a fridge last month with Futureshop.ca and had no problem. It was delivered within 9 days with no problems.

Bought a fridge during boxing day. When the delivery guys took the fridge out of the truck they noticed two huge dents on the side of a brand new fridge. Back in the truck it goes. It took another half a day trying to call Customer Service to reschedule for another delivery. No one ever pick up the main customer service phone. Finally got to someone by calling the store directly. Another work day is wasted.

These folks seem to be racking up quite a reputation for incompetence. I ordered a computer and monitor in the store from their online business. All went well until that night when they tried to authorize my credit card. The next morning I got their email saying the order did not go through. I contacted my cc company and they informed me that Future Shop authorized one charge for $300 for the monitor, but the second charge for $1100 was denied because it appeared to Visa that the card was being probed for ever increasing authorization amounts,in quick succession, something they see happening with stolen cards, where the crooks try to max out the card. Wham! Card blocked just like that. Future Shop will divide up the order and get card authorizations for each line item if they want for reasons only known to them. The end effect is that I had to wait 45 minutes on the phone for my credit card company to fix that problem, then after 30 minutes of screwing around with Future Shops’s help line, which has NO HUMAN contact possible now, I finally had to go back into the store. There they told me it wasn’t their concern what the credit card company did and that it was not possible what the credit card company told me and that in the seven months this young pup had been working there, he’d never seen an instance of a card being denied because of their practices. The store manager wouldn’t believe that their help line was only recordings until he tried it himself. Then to top it all off, they told me that their online sales system is automated and they have no power to cancel an order or to manually re-authorize a credit card purchase and that I would have to wait two days for their computer to contact Visa again. So, do business with these Americans at your own peril. “Shut up Mr. Customer, don’t talk back to us, we couldn’t care less about your problems, we let our computers bark orders to our customers and if you want your gadget, you’ll do as you’re told.” That’s their message, and they lie to you when they say they have no power to intervene on your behalf with their automated sales order system and say that so they can force you to take the goods once they arrive. If you take custody of the goods, they don’t have to give you a refund if they don’t want to. So, now I am suspicious that the goods available only on line have something wrong with them, that they wouldn’t want to make them available in their stores. Bloody awful.
