Unimpressed by Online Experience with Banana Republicâ€

By Tanya

I was really excited to see that the Gap family of stores were selling products in Canada for Canadians, so I thought I would give it a try. I bought a sweater two weeks ago and still haven’t received it.

The customer service telephone number is a joke. The automated service won’t allow you to speak to an agent. I had to pretend I wanted to provide feedback about their services in order to speak to a real person regarding my purchase.

I am really not impressed and won’t buy online again. I’m just hoping that my order arrives before the holidays.

My experience was very different than yours.

My BR sweater came in 4 days. When I wanted to exchange it, I called the 1-800 number on the website, and got a live person, who was very helpful.

i had the same experience just yesterday. i placed my order dec 15th, and i understand it being christmas holidays and all, but for my order to not have been at least shipped by today (dec 22nd) seems a little ridiculous to me. and i just have a feeling i’m going to be getting an email real soon after this xmas rush that “oh your product is no longer is stock”..or some kind of problem to that extent..ughhh!

Anna and Tanya: the website asks you to select either FREE shipping, which they clearly state takes 7-11 BUSINESS days (you can go to http://www.bananarepublic.ca and test it yourself; just add any item in your basket, then “checkout”, and you will see it asks you to select your shipping before you proceed), or if you want to pay ($8 and up) for guaranteed 4 business days delivery.

Seems both of you selected FREE shipping and expected they would ship faster just because you needed it faster.

This is an irresponsible and rude post, because you are trying to make it sound like the retailer did not live up to their terms, when in fact you were expecting better terms of service but didn’t feel like paying for it.
