MARCHE - RICHTREE PROMENADE MALLâ€

By KRIS

I am a frequent visitor at Richtree- Marche Downtown location, and this time, I have visited Marche located in Promenade Mall in Thornhill on Saturday, Sept 17 at around 4PM. The Staff at that location were just rude and unacceptable.

I was going to purchase 4 daily special - as mentioned by the server that the meal cost $5.98 each (chicken and a side, and a drink incl). After this was mentioned, I asked him which drinks are included, and he said I can pick anything from the Bar, coke, sprite, ginger ale, ice tea etc. He told me to take whatever I want from the Bar.

When I brought my purchases to the Cashier, they were charging me the specials plus $1.49 for the drinks. I have told them that the special include the drinks, and they looked puzzled. They were like no drinks included, do you want it or not. I had the worst experience, and they just did not seem to care. They were looking at the wall, and did not make any eye contacts, and did not bother to serve me anymore. I know restaurants are based on the customer service, and this type of service was just not acceptable. I ended up not purchase the meals, as I got the feeling that the customer did not come first. What kinds of service is it, when they say “do you want it or not?”

I will not go to any or the Marche locations going forward. They are simply not customer driven, and do not care. One of the cashiers was just looking at the wall, and the other one disappeared.

They have just lost a long term customer, I have been going to Marche often to purchase my morning coffee and muffing, but will not go back, for sure.

Marche doesn’t offer the deal you are asking about.

There is a BBQ chicken leg with 2 sides for $5.98 - http://www.richtree.ca/pdf/main_menu_Promenade.pdf - but the menu states the sides are Roasted Potato Wedges and/or Seasonal Vegetables - no drink. Perhaps the server thought (or allows) a drink to be substituted for one of the sides.

The cashiers couldn’t tell you substituted the second side for a drink instead because the take-out trays aren’t see-through, and because you didn’t go back to the server who told you that. You should have told them to check with your server, or found him yourself and brought him to the cash register to explain.

Sorry but I don’t hear how anyone was rude or unacceptable.

You should have asked for a manager to have this problem solved. That being said, it sounds like typical Marche/Richtree service!

I had similar problems at the Promenade location in the past. I ordered an advertised pasta dish of chicken pasta with pesto sauce. Halfway through cooking it, I noticed there was no chicken in it, I asked for some, they said they don’t have any. No offer of substitution, no telling me they were out when I ordered it, server claimed they never have chicken. When it was almost cooked she asked if I wanted tomato sauce or alfredo, I asked for pesto sauce as advertised, again she said she never had this, and went to the sign to check that this was actually advertised. A vegetarian pasta was advertised on the menu at a cheaper price, but I was still charged for the chicken pesto dish even though it is not what I ended up getting.

It’s not the matter of offering the promotion or not, it’s how you handle problem. When staff talk to me, they should look at me and tell me, not starring at the wall and pretend that I am invisible. Bad way of handling customer’s concern!!
Also, yes, when the server was stating the promotion, he was reading it from the flyer he had with him.
Anyway, I am not going back anymore, I get better customer service at Mcdonalds.
