Almost all cell companies do this, although when I said “Fine cancel my old plan ” they gave me what I wanted.But I do not have a monthly contract.

We found the same at both BB & FS but Not so at Koodo, I did’nt have to even ask, I just got the Gren Visa card, I posted that info but its hard to fimd when your not looking for it, Sorry

usually there is a tiny asterisk or a cross n the flyer,at the very bottom in the fine print that states it must be a new activation on usually a 1 2 or 3 year plan,this is customary on most deals like that,same goes for future shop which is a best buy company.it sucks but that is in their fine print.
